Neeraj Chawla, MD

 

Neeraj Chawla, MD was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, where he lived with his parents and two older brothers. He moved to the US at 18 to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a physician. He earned his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, before completing medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL.

Neeraj started his residency training in 2022 and is elated to be part of the CPMC family. Over the next four years, he hopes to acquire the diverse skills and experiences that will enable him to provide top-quality eye care to his patients, all while maintaining a positive attitude. His career interests include engaging in medical student and resident education, researching IOL calculations in complicated patients, and providing eye care to underserved populations, especially back home in Thailand. Beyond the eye clinic, Neeraj enjoys various sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, and tennis, going on trips and exploring nature with his family, and soaking in the local live music, comedy, and arts scene.
